Who We Are ...

Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization, bringing together over 1.4 million volunteers across more than 200 countries to improve their local and global communities.

Founded in 1917 under the motto "We Serve," local Lions clubs operate as community hubs where members step up to address pressing local needs—ranging from food drives and environmental cleanups to disaster relief.

Nationally and internationally, the organization is particularly renowned for its landmark work in vision preservation and sight care, alongside major initiatives in childhood cancer, diabetes awareness, and hunger relief.

At its heart, Lions Clubs International functions on a simple principle: empowering everyday people to band together and make a tangible, hands-on difference right where they live.

Our Mission ...

And we fulfill it every day, everywhere we serve.

Lions in Southern Africa ...

In Southern Africa, Lions International has been operational since 1957 as a vital community network dedicated to addressing the country's unique socio-economic and healthcare challenges.

Structured as Multiple District 410 (which encompasses South Africa, Namibia and Eswatini), local clubs mobilise volunteers across towns and cities to lead targeted humanitarian projects.

A flagship pillar of our presence is optical health—most notably through our Lions BrightSight project, which provides affordable prescription eyeglasses and vision screenings to underprivileged individuals.

Clubs execute extensive projects in local food relief, diabetes awareness, youth development, and environmental stewardship.

By combining global resources with deep local roots, Lions in South Africa turn the "We Serve" ethos into practical, grassroots action that directly uplifts vulnerable communities.
